Amid the surging reforms and opening-up drive in China, Ningbo, a famous port in old China and one of the ¡°Five Trading Ports¡± in contemporary China, has become an open coastal city with the same rights as a province in economic planning and management. Against this backdrop, China Export Base Development Ningbo Corporation was founded in 1985 with approval from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation.
In 1999, in response to a new round of reform and opening-up, China-Base formed an alliance with Youngor Group, an established and listed Chinese enterprise. As a result, China-Base has emerged as a co***ny, which covers many industries, operates in many regions and has many shareholders. As Vice Premier Wu Yi pointed out at a national working conference on Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, ¡°China-Base is a model in the reform of Chinese foreign trade enterprises.¡±
The new ownership system has brought immense vigor to the enterprise. China-Base has succeeded in implementing its strategies of ¡°market globalization, foreign trade orientation, business diversification and group development¡±, turning itself from a traditional foreign trade enterprise into an industry based foreign trading enterprise group involved in multiple operations. Last year, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), the most important foreign trade billboard in China, listed China-Base among the Top 100 Chinese Foreign Trade Enterprises. Therefore, at an opening-up conference in Ningbo, the CPC Ningbo Committee and Ningbo Municipal Government called for all to ¡° learn from the successful alliance between China-Base and Youngor and promote the cooperation between the industrial and trading sectors.¡±
